As promised, here is my second and favorite set of all of my ’80s earrings, the “Janey Glenn” earrings. I fashioned them after one of my absolutely favorite movies of all time, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and the character Janey Glenn (played by a very young Sarah Jessica Parker).
In the final scene, when she and her boyfriend/dance partner Jeff are trying to win a spot on Dance TV, Janey is wearing a peachy-pink and white dance outfit that I have always loved. (Spoiler alert: If you haven’t seen the movie and want to be surprised at the ending, don’t watch the clip!)
Isn’t it great? Totally ’80s! Oh I just love this movie. I think I’ll have to watch it again tonight for the 500th time. 🙂
Would you like to make your own set of “Janey Glenn” earrings? Well, here is how you do it:
Materials
2 white round vintage plastic round hoops (32 mm across)
2 peach or pink lucite beads (11 mm across)
2 gold plated hook earwires
2 gold plated long headpins
2 gold plated jump rings (8 mm)
wire cutters
round nose pliers
needle nose pliers
Materials can be found at your local craft store or on Etsy.
Instructions
1. String peach/pink bead onto headpin. Using wire cutters, clip headpin to 1 centimeter above bead.
2. Hold the head pin in the round-nose pliers with one hand. Using the other hand, take the needle-nose pliers and bend the wire to form a small loop.
3. Using the round nose pliers, open the jump ring and string the peach/pink bead onto the jump ring.
4. Slide the top/thin part of the white hoop onto the jump ring.
5. String earwire onto jump ring. With round nose pliers, squeeze the jump ring until it is closed tight.
That’s it! Now girls, turn on Dance TV and have some fun these earrings!

Those earrings are the kind that are great to bounce around as you dance wildly to the 80’s music! Love it!

Finally got a Crafting 80’s post up… sorry to have been such a slacker (I’ve been busy with Vday!!)
This is based on friendship bracelets we used to make in the eighties… not sure if anyone else made them, but we did!
