I’ve been contemplating getting another cat for some time now, especially since Desdemona was reunited with her family. Since June is adopt a shelter cat month, I figured this would be the perfect time to adopt one. So, this past Saturday I went to my local no-kill cat shelter, Safe Haven for Cats, and adopted my second little girl.
Meet Daphne!
Isn’t she a cutie?! She is a five-year-old dilute tortie with a sweet personality and a quiet cry.
Daphne is super special, because while she was living on the streets the right side of her face became paralyzed. The shelter isn’t sure how it happened, but it isn’t a problem for her. She does have a little trouble eating on that side, but she has adjusted fine.
The great thing about Safe Haven for Cats is they keep the cats at the shelter until they find homes. This was great for Daphne, because she’d been living in the shelter for many, many months. I’m not sure why no one wanted to adopt her, because she is such a sweet kitty. But it worked out great for me!

As you can see, she has taken to the house very well. Less than 24 hours after she came home, she was already staking claim to “her” spots. This is her absolute favorite spot. She lays on the kitchen island and watches the squirrels out the window. Yesterday, she laid up there the entire time I watched The Nanny Diaries
Unfortunately, she’s not too comfortable with Drusilla yet, just a little hissing and swatting, so far. I’m hoping by this weekend I’ll be able to have them both laying around the house at the same time without kitty WWIII!!!

  1. What a doll! She's very pretty.
The name Daphne makes me think of Some Like It Hot. 😀

Here's hoping your kitties get things worked out!

  3. Bless your heart for taking Daphne in with you and Druscilla. She looks like a reat sweetheart. I'm sure the girls will be the best of friends before long 🙂

  5. Awww – I'm so glad that you gave sweet Daphne a loving home! Eventually, your babes will get along famously. With 4 cats, I know exactly what you mean about kitty WWII!

  7. She is so precious. I love her. I hope I get to meet her soon. I'm sure Druscilla will learn to love her.
