I was inspired by these awesome Harry Potter Kindle covers. I didn’t use any pattern, just eyeballed it from the picture.
It was really simple.
- I measured the size of the journal and left a little extra so it wouldn’t be a tight squeeze once the journal is inside.
- I cut out the pieces of felt, I just love Ron’s hair. I have so much Eco-fi felt in my house that these were made from scraps. Eco-Fi felt is the felt you find at your local craft store. I love it!
- Since this is just for me I glued the hair, freckles, and scarf pieces onto the front. If it was for someone else or if I was selling it I would stitch them all on.
- Lastly, I blanket stitched, which is my go-to stitch now, the three sides together, leaving the bottom open for the journal.
That’s it! Super simple and cute.
In other news . . .
If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you saw me post over the weekend that I am working on archiving my old posts. I’ve hit a few snafus with these old posts, so the process is taking some time. I am working from the oldest to the most recent, so they will be showing up that way.
It is pretty amazing just how bad I was at taking pictures back then. So, please forgive the terrible pictures. I just know some of you are looking for some of my old posts. Please be patient. I’m hoping to have everything up by the end of the week. I’ll then work on adding my older Yarn Palette posts and combining all of the tutorials on one page.
Also, a few years ago I hosted an ’80s craft-a-long, Crafting Through the ’80s. I had such a positive response to it that I am thinking of hosting another one this summer. When I get those posts up this week take a peek at what it was all about. It was a lot of fun.
One of the most rewarding parts of the craft-a-long was to see so many crafters get inspired for new projects. Some people made cards, stickers, or toys. Plus, it was a blast! I’m still trying to wrap my head around what we’ll do, but it will be set up in a similar way with one year per week for 10 weeks. And, there will be a totally awesome ’80s prize too!
Just thought I’d throw all of that out there in case you were looking for a specific post or are interested in a new ’80s craft-a-long.
