I absolutely love England! I guess that isn’t too big of a stretch coming from an British Lit major. I can’t decide what I love most about it: the people, history, authors, food, scenery, or music! I think it is a little bit of everything.

I’ve had England on my mind lately. So, instead of dropping everything and jumping on the next plane to London, which I so wanted to do, I decided to have my own British invasion this past weekend. It was quite a lot of fun and didn’t cost me a penny.
I first had a mini movie fest with two of my favorite British comedies: Bridget Jones’s Diary and Love Actually.
Love Actually also got me in the Christmas mood. I just love that movie!
I then made myself some fish and chips, which were really very good. Who knew frozen fish could taste so good?! I couldn’t find any vinegar though, so I had to settle for homemade tartar sauce.
After dinner, I brewed a pot of Earl Grey tea and made some scones. I’ve never made scones before, so that was pretty interesting, but they came out pretty good for my first try. If you’d like to give them a go, you can find the link to the recipe along with my scone experience on my baking blog.
I topped off the weekend with a really cool British craft project, all the while listening to my own British music playlist.
My craft project was pretty spur of the moment. I was working on my crochet projects, which are running way behind schedule, but became inspired to make something while listening to Def Leppard’s Photograph. Do you remember Joe Elliott’s famous ’80s t-shirt?

That was my inspiration! What a stud. 😉
My Union Jack pillow ornament was so fun to make. It is made from fleece and felt and stuffed with a little polyfil. I just love it! Now every time I look at it it will remind me of how much I love England and how much I can’t wait for my next visit. Who knows, maybe next year?!!!
