This has been one of the most trying years that I can remember. With losing my job, Drusilla, and most of my finances I have really struggled to find the good in 2017.
But in the midst of this trying season I am reminded of so many things that I am grateful for, most importantly God, my family, and my friends. But even the most insignificant things, as small as they may be, can turn a bad day into a good one.
Today I am grateful for. . .
- The smell of fall in the air.
- Daphne sleeping on my lap.
- The bug that was crawling on my vaulted ceiling made it to the wall and didn’t fall on me!
- Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Clue, Sixteen Candles, and all of the other ’80s comedies for making me laugh even on the worst of days.
- A sale in my Etsy shop.
- Earning a free drink from Starbucks.
- Sleep.
- Finishing everything for the week that I had written in my planner, which doesn’t happen very often.
- The perfect cup of Earl Grey tea.
- Not having to cut the grass this week.
- Pilates.
- A good hair day.
- Lounging on the couch, crocheting, and watching college football.
- Learning something new, especially on CreativeLive.
- Realizing I’m only going to have to cut the grass a couple more times this year.
- No longer driving two hours a day to and from work.
- Macaroni & cheese.
- Cloudy skies.
- A cold and a rainy day.
- Freedom.
- A good pair of jeans.
- Lip balm.
- Losing another pound.
- Punctual people.
- Singing in my car to “Our Lips Are Sealed” as I drive around town.
- My laptop.
- Heirloom pumpkins.
- Enough money to pay my bills.
- A brand new roof over my head.
- My health.
- Filling up my gas tank every two weeks instead of twice a week.
- Books.
- The library.
- Spending an entire day working on my book.
- The sweet barista at Starbucks who calls me “Dear” and gives me extra berries in my Trenta Very Berry Hibiscus.
- Finding a brand new tube of toothpaste hidden in the back of my bathroom cabinet.
- People who actually use their turn signal.
- Music that makes me happy.
- Music that makes me sad.
- Music of all kinds, except for Rap, Jazz, and Instrumentals.
- My church.
- The color lavender.
- The smell of bread baking.
- Being published three times.
- Scrivener that makes writing a book so much easier.
- Carolina blue skies.
- My hands so I can write, type, crochet, craft, and play the piano, when I feel the urge.
- Kitty kisses.
- The freedom to be able to blog about anything I feel like blogging about.
- God’s promises: Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
